I bought this to go in my Jeep CJ7. I didn't want to cut the dash, so I needed a shaft style stereo. Also, if it gets wet or stolen, I am only out $40. You get what you pay for and this doesn't cost a lot. But it works fine and looks ok. The USB works, I haven't tried the SD reader yet. The factory speakers were still in the Jeep, so I haven't tried the ones that came with it.
Things you should consider:
There are no presets for radio stations, you'll have to tune it manually.
The tuner is old school. It has a digital dispay, but you have to carefully turn it to the station you want.
There is no seek or scan function.
It does have RCA outputs, if you want to use an amp.
When using USB, when you turn it off and back on, whatever song was playing starts over.
A little under powered but simple February 2, 2010 James H. Munsey (L.A. (Lower Alabama!)) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I don't think the unit has the power output as advertised. With it cranked all the way up it was just not that loud. It is a very simple unit which is good. The speakers that came with it were very cheap but for the cost, you really could not expect much else. Not a bad unit for the money but nothing great either. It does make you think that CD players will be following the 8 tracks soon as everyone goes to the SD card.
